Trial Date Set for Woman Accused of Killing Teacher-Husband

A Carlsbad mother charged with murdering her schoolteacher-husband will appear in court for her trial on Oct. 7, officials announced Thursday.

Julie Elizabeth Harper is accused of fatally shooting her husband, Jason Harper, on Aug. 7. She pleaded not guilty on Aug. 13.

Jason Harper—who was 39 when he was killed—was a teacher and volleyball coach at Carlsbad High School. The couple have three children.
