Prep Basketball Roundup: Carpinteria Girls Take Third Place at Royal Tournament (noozhawk.com) — Carpinteria High’s girls basketball team claimed third place at the Royal Tournament with a dominant 53-40 win over Magnolia, highlighted by a double-double from Jamaica Cook. The Warriors, now 5-3, return home to host Nordhoff in Citrus Coast League play, while the roundup also notes Dos Pueblos boys’ Channel League loss at Oxnard.
   

2. City has clean financials, auditors confirm (coastalview.com) — Carpinteria’s city finances just earned a clean bill of health for the 27th straight year, with auditors finding no errors in the city’s 2024–25 financial report. Officials say the city’s general fund finished with a stronger-than-expected $13.4 million balance, thanks to higher revenues and unfilled staff positions, underscoring ongoing recognition for transparent, well-managed budgeting.
   

3. Registered library users, in-person visits up (coastalview.com) — Carpinteria’s Community Library is busier than ever, with cardholders up 20.8% and more than 71,000 in-person visits logged this year. City Librarian Eric Castro says the small but growing 16,081-item collection now lends nearly 6,000 items to other Black Gold Cooperative libraries, putting Carpinteria on par with much larger regional systems.
   

4. Vandenberg's Next Mission: SpaceX Rocket Launch Early Wednesday (noozhawk.com) — Carpinteria residents may hear a sonic boom and possibly see a Falcon 9 rocket streak across the sky early Wednesday as SpaceX launches from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The Starlink mission is scheduled between 12:54 and 4:54 a.m., with the greatest chance of audible booms in Montecito, Carpinteria, and Ojai.
