Three Nearby LAUSD Schools on Lockdown Following UCLA Shooting

Warner Elementary School, Fairburn Elementary School and Emerson Middle School were placed on lockdown out of "an abundance of caution."

WESTWOOD, CA - Three Los Angeles Unified School District campuses were on lockdown following a fatal shooting at nearby UCLA campus out of "an abundance of caution," a school official said.

Warner Elementary School, Fairburn Elementary School and Emerson Middle School were placed on lockdown following the report of the shooting at around 10 a.m., LAUSD spokeswoman Ellen Morgan said.

She said parents have no reasons to fear for their children's safety.

"We have (school police) officers at each of the schools," Morgan said. "Our students and staff are safe."

Two people were killed in the shooting at UCLA and the Los Angeles Police Department has put the city on tactical alert, meaning police resources and personnel may be redistributed to deal with a major police incident.
