Sarkar, a Ph.D student, was a member of the Klug Research Group; Computational Biomechanics, at UCLA, according to a Klug Research Group publication.

Sarkar, who had accused Klug of stealing his computer code and giving it to someone, has been targeting his anger toward the associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering on social media for months, according to the Los Angeles Times.

In a post on March 10, Sarkar called Klug a "very sick person" who could not be trusted.

“William Klug, UCLA professor is not the kind of person when you think of a professor. He is a very sick person. I urge every new student coming to UCLA to stay away from this guy,” Sarkar wrote. “He made me really sick. Your enemy is my enemy. But your friend can do a lot more harm. Be careful about whom you trust.”

An unnamed UCLA source told the Times Sarkar's allegations are unfounded.

The UCLA campus reopened, and classes resumed Thursday, except for engineering classes. Counseling services will be offered to students and faculty.
