With a strong commitment to supporting the community it serves, Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center (KPDMC) recently announced that it invested more than $445,000 in Community Benefit grants to 35 non-profit organizations, including several Cerritos-Artesia based groups.
These grants help support organizations that provide access to health insurance coverage and health care services, improve awareness and prevention of chronic diseases, including obesity, and support programs, interventions, and education that address the needs of at-risk youth.
The money awarded to the following Cerritos area organizations will help them continue to have a positive impact on the individuals and families they serve:
- Community Family Guidance: $25,000 to expand the availability of mental health services
- ABC School District: $12,000 to support its Youth Leadership Initiative
- City of Hawaiian Gardens: $6,000 to support the Activate Hawaiian Gardens obesity prevention program
- ABC Education Foundation: $5,000 to support student and school enrichment programs
- Cerritos College Foundation: $20,000 to promote STD awareness
Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center Community Benefit grant program issues grants to local organizations, including non-profits, community clinics, school districts, and cities that focus on access to care; health insurance enrollment; obesity prevention; chronic disease management; and support for at-risk youth. The funds ensure that the most vulnerable people in the community have access to health care and resources. Since 2010, Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center Community Benefit has donated more than $1.2 million to more than 100 community partners.
