Los Angeles County firefighters today put out a non-injury kitchen fire at a Wendy's restaurant in nearby Lakewood. The fire at 4314 South Street, near Lakewood Boulevard, was reported at 11:57 p.m. Monday and knocked down at 12:07 a.m. today, said County Fire Department supervising dispatcher Andre Gougis. The flames damaged the kitchen of the restaurant, which was open when the blaze broke out, and filled the eatery with smoke, a news photographer reported from the scene. The restaurant was temporarily closed but expected to reopen by noon today. - City News Service
