SLIDESHOW: How a Former Cerritos College Student Honored Veterans
Do you have any veterans in your family?

Felipe Grimaldo had an idea, so executed it.
Thanks to his action, the quad at UC Davis has been lined with more than 100 yellow ribbons, in honor of America's veterans.
“I wanted to make sure Veterans Day is a significant event on our campus,” said Grimaldo, a transfer student from Cerritos College.

While at Cerritos, he became an activist for veterans, co-founding a Student Veterans Club and helping to open a resource center, according to UC Davis Dateline. He’s now majoring in political science at UC Davis.
The ribbon idea came to life with help from the Veterans Affairs Office and volunteers from Phi Alpha Delta.

He concedes that some younger students might not understand the connection between yellow ribbons and veterans, but that’s fine.
“For a person like me,” he said. “It means a lot.”
