Chico Hit-And-Run Leaves Homeless Man Dead

The incident happened after 2 a.m. Thursday on West East Vanue near Esplanade.

CHICO, CA -- Officials are investigating this week after a driver fatally hit a pedestrian before driving away. The incident happened after 2 a.m. Thursday on West East Vanue near Esplanade, according to the Chico Police Department. The victim was dead when officers and medics arrived on the scene.

The victim was a 63-year-old homeless man, according to actionnewsnow.com.

Investigators said the driver, who possibly drove a light-colored SUV similar to a Ford Explorer, responsible was last seen traveling west on East Avenue. The vehicle may have front-end damage as a result of the fatal incident, police said.
