Missing Chico Woman Found Dead

CHICO, CA -- The body of a missing Chico woman was found this week. Pluma County Sheriff's officials said the body of Kelsey Powles, 20, was found Friday morning.

The car of Powles, who was reported missing Thursday afternoon, was found in a ditch off of Highway 147 in the area of Hamilton Branch, officials said.

The body was discovered around 7 a.m. Friday after crews arrived on scene and began their search where her car was located. The cause of death is currently under investigation and detectives are responding to the scene.
