Big Chico Creek no swim advisory lifted after negative E. coli tests (krcrtv.com) — Big Chico Creek is once again open for swimming after Butte County Public Health lifted its no-swim advisory following negative E. coli tests. Officials still haven’t confirmed the contamination source and warn they’ll reinstate restrictions if new cases appear, so Chico-area swimmers should stay alert to future advisories.
   

3. Annual Christmas lawn display softer this year (chicoer.com) — A longtime Chico holiday tradition at 4 Wildflower Court continues this year with a quieter, more reflective Christmas display honoring late artist Charlie Carroll. His widow Loretta and family kept the handmade lawn scene going, celebrating his decades of whimsical artwork seen from Wildflower Court to Chico landmarks like the Elks Lodge and Miller Mansion.
   

4. Faith groups on the meaning of Christmas with a message for 2025 (mercedsunstar.com) — Several Chico and Butte County congregations share what Christmas means to them and offer hopeful messages for 2025, especially amid war and hardship. Local Quaker, Unitarian Universalist, Lutheran, and other Christian leaders emphasize themes of light in darkness, community compassion, and personal responsibility to build a more peaceful, just world.
