• Man arrested for selling fentanyl to pallet shelter residents in Chico (krcrtv.com) — Residents using Chico’s Genesis pallet shelter should know authorities arrested a resident after a months-long investigation into alleged fentanyl and meth sales at the site, where several overdose deaths have occurred since 2024. Agents seized drugs, cash, and a bank account, and say the investigation into trafficking targeting vulnerable shelter residents is still ongoing.
   

• Butte County approves new cell tower to improve North Chico service (krcrtv.com) — A new 100-foot Verizon cell tower is coming to Keefer Road in North Chico, aiming to finally fix a long-standing cell coverage gap and support a new nearby fire station. County supervisors approved a lease that could run up to 25 years, and the tower is designed to host multiple carriers and future public safety equipment.
   

• USDA unveils $700M pilot program to boost regenerative agriculture, enhance soil health (krcrtv.com) — A new $700 million USDA pilot program for regenerative agriculture could bring fresh opportunities to farmers, with Chico State’s Center for Regenerative Agriculture helping lead the charge. Director Cynthia Daley says the funding will support soil health, water quality, and climate resilience while giving students hands-on training and producers financial help to try new practices.
