Top 5 Claremont-Area Stories: LaVerne Priest, Business Burglaries, Pomona College Shout-out

With much of the news dedicated to the capture of suspected murderer Christopher Dorner this week, and the funerals and memorials of his victims, there were also many important stories local to the Claremont area this week.  Just in case you missed them this week, here are our Top Five stories.

• City Council incumbents Corey Calaycay and Larry Schroeder talked about their candidacies and city finances at a Chamber of Commerce event on Tuesday.  Claremont's election is March 5.
• after the Princeton Review named it one of the "best value" schools in the country.
• A former La Verne priest who taught high school in town from 1968 to 1982 was named in the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles abuse files.
• Not far from Claremont, in East Valinda, a teenager was found shot to death on Sunday.
• The Claremont Chamber of Commerce is warning its members to take precautions after recent burglaries at Wolfe's Market and at a local Chevron station.
