Bicyclist Struck, Killed By SUV On Highway 242 In Concord
The fatal crash happened in the southbound slow lane near the Olivera Road overcrossing.

CONCORD, CA — A bicyclist was fatally struck Sunday night on state Highway 242 in Concord.
The collision happened at 8:49 p.m. as the bicyclist was traveling within the southbound slow lane and was struck by a white GMC Yukon full-sized SUV just north of the Olivera Road overcrossing, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP officers and emergency services personnel responded to the scene to assist.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
The Contra Costa County coroner's office was working to identify the cyclist and notify their next of kin before publicly releasing the person's name.

The Yukon driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Impairment was ruled out as a factor, the CHP said.
