• Series of Earthquakes Strike San Ramon Friday Night (contracosta.news) — Concord residents felt a series of earthquakes Friday night, including a 4.0 magnitude quake centered near San Ramon that prompted BART to slow trains for safety inspections. Dozens of smaller quakes continued into early Saturday, causing systemwide delays of up to 20 minutes but no reported damage. Locals across Contra Costa County reported feeling the shaking.
   

• So long, Brass Door: Restaurant beloved by East Bay movers and shakers to close (eastbaytimes.com) — A longtime San Ramon steakhouse, the Brass Door, will close on Christmas Eve after a lease dispute, costing Concord resident Juan Chavez and his coworkers their jobs. Chavez, who started there as a teenager 35 years ago, describes the restaurant as a family-like place he’s heartbroken to leave. The closure ends a 70-year run as a key East Bay gathering spot.
