Café Brings Food and Friendship to Seniors in Concord
If you are a senior who likes a hot meal and making new friends we invite you to join us at the Café at the Concord Senior Center!

If you are a senior who likes a hot meal and making new friends we invite you to join us at the Café at the Concord Senior Center! The Senior Center is a familiar home-away-from-home for older adults to enjoy a tasty meal, have good conversations, participate in fun activities, make new friends, join exercise classes, and more.
Lunch is served at the Café Monday -Thursday, 11:00 am-12:30 pm. “The food is very filling! I’m a vegetarian, and they always have a well-balanced meal for me to eat,” said Monarama, a regular Café attendee and volunteer. “This program really is wonderful. My husband and I go all the time!”

In addition to the food, the Café helps seniors maintain good mental health while combatting feelings of loneliness and isolation. Liz likes attending the Café because it provides a sense of connectedness to the community. “It really is wonderful to have a place where I can meet with friends or make a new one. I am so impressed with Meals on Wheels Diablo Region and all that they are doing besides the home-delivered meals!”

Meals on Wheels Diablo Region also provides classes at the Senior Center that promote health, such as Young at Heart Strength Training and Bingocize®. Young at Heart Strength Training is an exercise class designed to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviors in adults 60 or older. Bingocize® is a fun and engaging class that combines the game of bingo with exercise and health education. Young at Heart Strength Training classes are on Wednesdays at 10:00 AM and Bingocize® classes are on Thursdays at 12:15 PM. “I love that the classes come to us at the Senior Center! My health is better because I can leave the house, eat well, socialize, and stay active,” Liz concludes.
