Concord Man Sentenced For Attack On Teen: No Sentence Enough 'For What You Have Taken From Me'
A Concord man was sentenced Thursday in the 2022 sexual assault of a Napa teen.
CONCORD, CA — The Concord man convicted in November of the 2022 sexual assault of a Napa teen will face a quarter century in prison.
On Thursday morning, a Napa County judge sentenced Ariel Vazferreira, 33,to 25 years in state prison for the rape of the teenager.
“I have lost the want and will to be happy for so long,” the woman told the court Thursday, reading from a prepared statement. “I do not care if you go to prison for 11 years, 12 years, no amount will bring back the smile and laughter I have lost. No prison sentence will ever feel enough for what you have taken from me. You took the most important moment of my life and turned it into the most humiliating event. I do not care if you are sorry, if your family feels sorry because at the end of the day, you knew what you were doing at your grown age.”

A jury found Vazferreira guilty in November for the forcible rape of a minor, forcible oral copulation of a minor, forcible sodomy of a minor, and sexual battery by restraint.
During the trial, the victim testified that on Aug. 28, 2022, when she was 16 years old, the defendant went to her Napa home while her parents were away and asked how long they would be gone. The defendant then proceeded to sexually assault her. After the assault, Vazferreira left the home shortly before the victim’s parents returned, according to court records.

He was on probation in Contra Costa County at the time, according to records. He faced a maximum sentence of 33 years in state prison.
Napa County Superior Court Judge Francisca Tisher sentenced Vazferreira after reviewing and considering a sentencing brief filed by Napa County Deputy District Attorney Michelle Roberts, a statement requesting a lenient sentence filed by the defendant’s counsel, and the victim impact statement read by the victim during sentencing, according to a news release from the Napa County District Attorney's office.
