- Facebook parent company Meta is cutting 10,000 more jobs and will freeze 5,000 open positions as layoffs continue to plague the tech space and impact the San Francisco Bay Area. Last month Meta posted falling profits and its third consecutive quarter of declining revenue. (Menlo Park Patch)
- A Concord-based nonprofit has launched a guaranteed income pilot program after being awarded $1.5 million through American Rescue Plan Act funds by City of Concord. The program will give $500 a month for over 12 months in cash assistance to at least 120 low-income Concord families. Priority will be given to those most impacted by COVID-19 and unable to work remotely. (East Bay Times)
- R&B legends TLC, best known for the songs "No Scrubs" and "Waterfalls," is joining 90's girl group En Vogue for a North American tour that will stop in Concord, California on July 9. The tour is happening while "TLC Forever," a new documentary comes to A&E Networks this summer. Tickets are now available for presale and general sale on Friday, March 17. (That Grape Juice)
- Controversial chicken fast food chain Chick-fil-A is coming soon to Concord after already opening in Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, Livermore and Pittsburg. The new location will in the Willows Shopping Center located at 1981 Diamond Blvd. It is the 24th location for Chick-fil-A in the Bay Area. (East Bay Times)
- West Contra Costa Unified School Board has announced layoffs, puzzling teachers. The union representing teachers, Teamsters 856, said workers already accepted "smaller-than-demanded raises" as part of contract negotiations after being told the settlement was "the best way to avoid layoffs." The overall impact of the layoffs has yet to be revealed by the school board. (Across California Patch)
