Concord Planning Commission To Discuss Apartment Project

CONCORD, CA -- The Concord Planning Commission on Wednesday could approve needed permits and design review for a mixed-use project that would include 228 apartment units and 4,600 square feet of retail space.

The project, if approved, would be built on 1.95 acres straddling Clayton Road east of Grant Street. This group of parcels is about two blocks west of the Concord BART station downtown. This would be a larger version of a project first proposed in November 2016 by Walnut Creek-based developer Browman Development Co. Browman later joined with the global development firm Hines to expand the proposed project.

City staff says the project -- so far, its working name remains "Grant Street Mixed-Use Project" - fits in well with the city's Downtown Corridors Plan, which focuses on revitalizing Concord's downtown area by connecting residents and visitors to transit, retail and jobs.

The Planning Commission meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. inside the City Council chamber in City Hall, 1950 Parkside Drive.
