East Bay Woman Dead In Rollover Crash, Driver Arrested For DUI: Police

The California Highway Patrol reported the solo-vehicle crash that closed down an interstate.

DALY CITY, CA — A 65-year-old Concord woman died in a DUI crash New Year's Day in Daly City, police said.

At around 11:13 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers said they responded to northbound I-280 north of Hickey Boulevard after receiving a report of a solo-vehicle crash.

Police said a Honda CR-V was in the left lane of the interstate when the driver lost control and collided into an embankment. Initial reports stated the car had rolled over but came to a stop on its wheels, according to CHP.

A 65-year-old woman was sitting in the rear passenger seat and didn't have a seatbelt on at the time of the crash, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the CR-V was arrested for a DUI at the scene of the crash, police said.

There was another woman in the front passenger seat but her condition is not known at this time, police said.

CHP shutdown two lanes of northbound I-280 but it has since been reopened.
