Fire Dept. Says Change Your Smoke Alarm Battery
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District reminds people to change the battery inside their smoke alarms in conjunction with daylight saving time adjustments.

While many clocks and computers will change the time they display automatically this weekend, The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District reminded people on Friday that they need to manually change the batteries inside their smoke alarms.
“Working alarms save lives,” said Lewis Broschard, CCCFPD Fire Marshal. Broscard recommended changing the batteries this weekend.
He said people who own homes or apartments rented to others are responsible for making sure the smoke alarms in those buildings function. He recommended changing the batteries in smoke alarms twice a year and replacing the entire alarm every 10 years.
