Atmospheric River, Flood Watch, High Wind Watch In Concord: What To Know

It's going to be a wet, windy few days in Concord as multiple atmospheric rivers approach.

CONCORD, CA — A wet Christmas is barreling toward Concord and the entire Bay Area as multiple atmospheric rivers approach. The city will be under a Flood Watch from Tuesday at 10 a.m. until Friday at 10 p.m., and a High Wind Watch from Tuesday at 7 p.m. until Wednesday at 4 p.m.

A total of two to four inches is expected across the Bay Area interior region, while as much as six inches is expected in higher elevations. Winds from 20-30 mph and gusts of up to 60 mph are expected Tuesday night.

The atmospheric river has already brought as much as four inches of rain to parts of the North Bay, and two and a half inches to Mt. Diablo. The rain has brought flash flooding, water rescue, and at least one confirmed death, according to authorities.

In Concord, a sandbagging station is available 24/7 at 1455 Gasoline Alley. Tools and bags are provided. Updated information is provided through the Concord Sandbag Hotline at 925-671-3383. Reports of serious flooding, blocked roadways, and/or trees down can be made directly to police dispatch by calling either 925-671-3333 or 911.

The National Weather Service also advises cleaning gutters and drains of leaves, driving slowly on wet roadways, and allowing for extra travel time. Due to the high winds, all large items outside should be brought in or tied down.
