Freeze Warning Issued For Pinole, Hercules: NWS

PINOLE AND HERCULES, CA — Parts of the Bay Area including Contra Costa County will be under a freeze warning this week, the National Weather Service said.

The warning goes into effect Wednesday at 2 a.m. and will last through Friday at 9 a.m. for the cities of Concord, Antioch, Martinez, Pinole, Hercules, Livermore, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, Pittsburg, San Ramon and Blackhawk, the NWS said.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-20s and low 30s in some areas, the agency said.

In Pinole and Hercules, the temps are expected to dip to 34 degrees overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, 37 degrees Wednesday night and 39 degrees Thursday night.

Widespread subfreezing temperatures are forecast for inland areas of Bay Area communities in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties, the NWS said.

“The coldest morning is likely to be on Thursday with the coldest interior spots dropping into the mid 20°s,” the NWS said.

The NWS is advising residents to care for pets and sensitive plants and crops.

Freezing temperatures may also damage outdoor plumbing, the agency said.

“… please check on the elderly, those without adequate access to shelter and be sure your pets and livestock have access to a warm shelter,” the NWS said.
