Funds Raised To Help Family Of Beloved East Bay Dad, Football Coach
Bill Siu, a father of four, died in an accidental drowning in Lake Tahoe.
CONCORD, CA — Nearly $40,000 was raised by Monday evening to help the family of a Concord dad who died from an accidental drowning last weekend in Lake Tahoe.
Bill Siu was a dedicated husband and father of four, according to a GoFundMe campaign set up in his memory.
According to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, a possible drowning was reported at 4:10 p.m. Friday on the east shore of Lake Tahoe. Emergency personnel found a man unresponsive in the water. He was taken to Sand Harbor and transferred by ambulance to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Family and friends called Siu's death "a tragic accident" and the sheriff's office was investigating it as an accidental drowning.
"His life and light was his wife and children," a friend wrote on the campaign page. He was also described as a son, brother, confidant, co-worker and a "beautiful, beautiful soul."

He was also remembered as an avid athlete who started playing baseball at 6 years old and moved to football at 11 years old. He played baseball and football throughout high school and community college. Most recently, Siu coached the Clayton Valley Eagles, a team his son Kanoah played on that won the league's championship in 2022.
The Raider fan "through and through" was a coach at P2P Transformation Center in Concord, where he shared his love of fitness and impacted hundreds of people's journeys toward their health goals.
Siu loved learning about new ideas, skills and sports. He was also described as a "grillmaster, even on hot days in Concord, CA."
"We ask you for your help now," a friend wrote on behalf of Siu's wife, Alexie Siu. "This unexpected and devastating loss has left his family stunned. We need your help with the costs of Bill's emergency medical care and funeral and memorial expenses for his family ... Please help us bid our beautiful, amazing and humble Bill goodbye."
