CONCORD, CA — Concord's efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, shift to clean energy, and fight climate change, earned the city recognition as a climate action leader.

The Institute for Local Government awarded Concord for local sustainability best practices.
The organization, whose board includes administrators from city governments and agencies, is designed to promote good governance at the local level through resources like its Beacon Program.

Concord is one of only 13 local governments in California to receive the 2025 Beacon Spotlight Award, according to a news release. Beacon Awards are the organization's highest recognition.
