1 Dead, 1 Injured In Shooting, Concord Police Confirm

A homicide investigation was continuing into the shooting on Solano Way near Broadmoor Avenue.

CONCORD, CA — The Concord Police Department confirmed that one person died and another person was injured in a shooting Tuesday morning.

At 9:48 a.m., Concord police dispatchers received a call about gunshots heard in the area of Solano Way and Broadmoor Avenue, police said.

Officers responded and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and the other person was hospitalized with injuries suffered in the shooting, police said.

The police department sent a tweet at 11:18 a.m. Tuesday asking the public to avoid the area of Solano Way and Broadmoor Avenue because of police activity. The homicide investigation just west of Highway 242 continued well into the afternoon.

According to one report, the shooting happened at a strip mall on Solano Way.

Witnesses heard gunshots and saw a person running from the scene with a gun, Claycord.com reported. One person may have been detained in a back yard on Courtland Drive, according to the news outlet.

Police did not identify the victim, nor did they confirm whether a suspect was identified or arrested.
