Ledo Leads In Assembly Race: Concord Election Results Primary 2024

CONCORD, CA —Votes have been cast in Tuesday's presidential primary election and polls officially closed at 8 p.m. in Concord and across California.

In the final election night tally released at 11:33 p.m. Tuesday, Republican candidate Sonia Ledo had a 1,466-point lead in the race for California state Assembly member, with no Republican challengers. Democrat Monica Wilson was ahead of Karen Mitchoff in the battle to represent their party on the November ballot.

Incumbent state Sen. Tim Grayson and incumbent U.S. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier had comfortable leads against their competitors.

In the race for the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, Candace Anderson ran unopposed for District 1 and Diane Burgis ran unopposed for District 3. In the race for District 5, Mike Barbanica was ahead of four other candidates for the seat held by longtime Supervisor Federal Glover.

March 5 Primary

With presidential frontrunners former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden expected to win their nominations handily, all eyes in California are on the hotly contested primary race for the seat vacated by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein as well as a slew of local races.

In Concord and Contra Costa County, voters decided on five candidate races and one ballot measure.

Ballot Question:

  • California Prop 1: Authorizes $6.5 billion in bonds to build mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities and homeless housing. YES: 51.1 percent; NO: 48.9 percent (Statewide results as of 11:56 p.m. Tuesday.)

U.S. House District 10:

  • Mark DeSaulnier (D) 65.02 percent
  • Nolan Chen (R) 10.69 percent
  • Mohamed Elsherbini (NP) .81 percent
  • Katherine Piccinini (R) 19.78 percent
  • Joe Sweeney (NP)3.65 percent

California State Senate District 9:

  • Tim Grayson (D) 63.95 percent
  • Marisol Rubio (D) 34.68 percent
  • Joseph Grcar (R) write-in
  • David Minor (R) write-in

California State Assembly District 15

  • Anamaria Avial Farias (D) 30.23 percent
  • Sonia Ledo (R) 32.94
  • Karen Mitchoff (D) 12.93 percent
  • Monica Wilson (D) 23.80

Contra Costa County Board Of Supervisors (nonpartisan)

  • District 2 candidates: Candace Andersen
  • District 3 candidates: Diane Burgis
  • District 5 candidate: Mike Barbanica 41.17 percent; Iztacchuauhtli Hector Gonzalez 11.04 percent, Jelani Killings 14.35 percent, Shanelle Scales-Preston 33.25 percent
