Survey: Concord Have A Say Now On Transportation Money and Blueprints For Next Quarter Century

Contra Costa tansportation survey invites Concord residents to weigh in on spending and transportation plans by Sept. 30.

CONCORD, CA — Even though flying vehicles are unlikely by 2050, Contra Costa residents can weight in on what how the county should manage more people coming and going on local roadways for the quarter century.

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority is asking residents to take an online survey by Sept. 30 about how transportation tax money should be prioritized for the next 25 years in the 2050 Countywide Transportation Plan.

The plan includes cities and agencies across Contra Costa including Walnut Creek, Concord, and Lamorinda.

Main themes include:

  • Safer, more comfortable streets for walking, biking, and daily travel.
  • Reduced backups and improved safety on roadways by leveraging tech and infrastructure.
  • Better connections to natural and community spaces.

The survey questions are based on an earlier round of input. Residents who responded wanted safer streets, expanded transit options, and equitable access for all communities, according to the Contra Costa Transportation Authority.

That feedback has shaped the ideas the agency is testing in the current survey, which will, in turn, steer the final plans.

The survey is also available on an "open house" portal that outlines the plans and their context.

The backbone of the initiative, according to the agency, is an extension of efforts to manage impacts from projected population, households, and job growth.

"Contra Costa is one county with many distinct communities," Matt Kelly, acting director of planning, said. "Our plan must deliver solutions that work for every resident, worker, and traveler in our county."

Survey participants can enter to win one of five $100 VISA gift cards.
