Beyond the tent and into the community: How the Coronado Floral Association brings art to all (coronadotimes.com) — Coronado residents are being invited to support local nonprofits through the Coronado Gives campaign while also celebrating the legacy of the Coronado Flower Show. The Coronado Floral Association is expanding its free Friends & Flowers workshops and adding “Events in the Tent” educational sessions to make floral art more accessible. Together, these efforts aim to strengthen creativity, learning, and community connection in Coronado.
   

2. Coronado Public Library launches Winter Read Challenge (thecoronadonews.com) — Coronado readers of all ages can dive into the Coronado Public Library’s Winter Read Challenge, logging books online starting December 20 for prizes and raffle entries. Young kids can earn toys and a free book, while teens and adults collect chances at gift cards. Audiobooks, e-books, and graphic novels all count, with raffle winners drawn February 1.

Veteran Spotlight — Donna Dismukes/US Navy (capenews.net) — A longtime Navy officer who retired as a commander shares how her first assignment with SEAL Team 1 in Coronado shaped her early career and respect for the SEAL community. She reflects on basic training in Orlando, her communications work, and how she grew into leadership roles over more than two decades of service.

Trump Pushes Mexico on Sewage Treatment, Water Obligations (newsmax.com) — Coronado is cited as one of the coastal communities facing health risks from ongoing sewage contamination flowing through the Tijuana River, as national pressure mounts on Mexico to fix treatment failures. Former President Trump is calling for immediate action and threatening tariffs, while U.S. and California officials plan public meetings on long-term mitigation and funding options.
