Children from households whose income is at or below the levels shown in the table are eligible for free or reduced-price meals.  Children who receive CalFRESH, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), Kinship Guardianship Assistance Payments (Kin-GAP), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) benefits are automatically eligible for free meals regardless of the income of the household in which they reside.

In addition, a foster care child who is the legal responsibility of the welfare agency or ward of the court is eligible to receive free meals regardless of income. Foster children may be on the same application as the other children in a family’s household, however the foster child’s eligibility is based on their “Personal Use Income.”
