Police told the station that there was evidence at the scene that several shots were fired and the suspect was on foot.
A woman who said she is the girlfriend to the man who was shot told NBC Los Angeles that she spoke on the phone with him Monday morning.
"I was talking to my boyfriend on the phone when he just told me he was going to go into work already," the woman said. "We were about to hang up when I heard him say, 'Hey, hey," and that was the last thing I heard from him. I didn't hear anything else. Somebody else answered telling me he had been shot in the head."
The shooting is under investigation.
