Firefighters Douse Vegetation Fire Near 10 Freeway

A fire scorched palm trees and other vegetation today near the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway and Fairfax Avenue, authorities said.

Firefighters dispatched at 1:11 p.m. doused the flames in about 20 minutes, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters remained on scene to douse hot spots. One right-hand lane was closed during the firefighting effort.
