Land Use Commission Rejects Appeal of LAX Runway Move

Culver City is one of three municipalities protesting LAX modernization plans.

The Los Angeles County Land Use Commission on Wednesday rejected an appeal by three municipalities to try and stop plans that would move the north runway at Los Angeles International Airport closer to homes, the Daily Breeze reported.

Culver City, along with Ontario and San Bernardino County, filed the appeal with the hopes of stalling the controversial runway project. In particular, Culver City worries that moving the runway will and modernizing the airport will increase noise and congestion in the area.

Airport officials argue that modernizing LAX is essential to safety.
