Man Wounded in Inglewood Deputy-Involved Shooting
The man then allegedly pulled out a handgun and one of the deputies opened fire on him, authorities said. A gun was recovered at the scene.

INGLEWOOD, CA - A man was wounded in a deputy-involved shooting in Inglewood on Friday and a firearm was recovered at the scene, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Century and Hawthorne boulevards, according to a watch sergeant at the sheriff's South Los Angeles Station. The deputes were headed east on Century Boulevard when they attempted to stop the man who was shot, investigators said. The department did not disclose why the deputies decided to stop the man in the first place.
The man who was shot ran west on Century Boulevard with the deputies in pursuit on foot, Deputy Trina Schrader said. When the man hit the intersection of Century and La Brea Boulevard, he ran into the parking lot of a shopping center.

The man then allegedly pulled out a handgun and one of the deputies opened fire on him, Schrader said. The man was hit once in the chest and was taken to a hospital in fair condition.
Deputies recovered a .22 caliber gun at the scene, Schrader added.

The shooting was under investigation by the department's Homicide and Internal Affairs bureaus, the county's Office of Inspector General, the sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee and Los Angeles County District Attorney's Justice System Integrity Division shooting team.
