Mixed-Used Project Approved For Culver City Eyesore

The Planning Commission has approved the mixed-used project for the decades-long neglected corner of Washington Place and Sawtelle Boulevard

CULVER CITY, CA -- The decades-long neglected corner of Washington Place and Sawtelle Boulevard could soon be the site of a mixed-used project, with apartments and street-level retail spaces.

The four-story project, which sits on the former site of a gas station near a freeway onramp, was approved by the Culver City Planning Commission last week. The corner has long been an eyesore in the city.

The development includes a mix of two- and three-bedroom apartments ranging between 932 and 2,456 square feet, according to documents presented to the commission.

The proposed building would include an underground parking garage for tenants and guests. A separate parking area on the first level would be for retail customers.

The project was initially planned for five stories by was scaled back after developers received feedbacks from the community.
