Culver City Approves Measure CC: Unofficial Election Results
Measure CC is the continuation of the current Measure Y half-cent sales tax, the City said.
CULVER CITY, CA — With the results yet to be certified, Culver City voters approved Measure CC, a continuation of the current Measure Y half-cent sales tax. As of 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, 75.03 percent of voters approved the measure, and 24.87 percent of the voters rejected Measure CC.
"Currently, Measure Y will sunset in the year 2023," the City of Culver City said. "If approved by Culver City voters, Measure CC would extend Measure Y by 10 more years."
City officials estimate the half-cent sales tax would continue to generate about $9.8 million dollars annually until 2033.

A simple majority was required for the approval of Measure CC.

According to the City, Measure CC revenues would fund:
- Police, fire and public safety services
- 911 emergency response
- Programming for seniors and youth
- Maintenance of parks and recreation centers
- Street repairs and traffic improvements
- Emergency preparedness efforts and resources
The half-cent sales tax only applies to certain goods and services within Culver City, such as restaurants, bars, gasoline and retail stores, but it does not apply to most groceries or services of doctors, dentists or attorneys, the City said.
As of Jan. 3 in Los Angeles County, 88.91 percent of the 6,184,646 eligible voters were registered.
Out of the 5,498,704 total registered voters, 51.11 percent are registered Democrats, 16.81 percent are registered Republicans, 2.4 percent are registered American Independents and 0.42 percent are registered Green Party.
