Robert David Hall, Big Sandy Headline Tonight’s Final Culver City Boulevard Music Festival Concert

Robert David Hall with guest Carl Verheyen will present American country music, and Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys will present rockabilly, western swing, hillbilly boogie sounds and more.

The fourth and final concert in this year’s free Thursday night concerts as part of the Culver City Boulevard Music Festival takes place tonight at 7 p.m. in the courtyard at City Hall.

Tonight, the festival presents Americana country with Robert David Hall and guest Carl Verheyen followed by rockabilly with Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys.
According to a press release by festival organizer Gary Mandell, Robert David Hall is known to millions as the quirky coroner on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” Hall is also an accomplished songwriter, singer, and guitarist. His recently released CD, Things They Don't Teach You In School (produced by Chris Wall) was praised in many music magazines and Hall was called a "songwriter of uncommon depth."

Hall will be joined onstage by special guest on guitar Carl Verheyen  and his bandmates Pat Colgan (guitar), Ken Deifik (harmonica), Matt Cartsonis (almost anything), Dave Marotta (bass), Sinclair Lott (drums), Craig Eastman (fiddle), Judy Hall (cello).

Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys, who have been together since 1987, will follow Hall’s performance.

Says Mandell of the group, “Their musicianship and longevity have made them a touchstone within the roots music scene in the U.S. The group has consistently wowed audiences with their combination of rockabilly, western swing and hillbilly boogie sounds. Jumpin' tunes, hot solos, and classic harmonies make their fans clamor for more.”
