Search On for Uber Driver's Killer

The driver was shot and killed in Inglewood on Sunday. It was unclear if he had already picked up a customer at the time of the shooting.

INGLEWOOD, CA - An investigation was continuing Monday in fatal shooting of an Uber driver in Inglewood.

The shooting occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of West 109th Street, according to police. Officers found Andre Jamal Bayyan, 27, of Los Angeles dead in a vehicle.

Officials with Uber confirmed that Bayyan was working for the ridesharing company and apparently was on a trip at the time of the shooting, but it's unclear if he had already picked up a passenger.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Bayyan to this senseless act of violence," Uber spokesman Michael Amodeo said. "Our thoughts and condolences are with his friends, family and loved ones."

No suspect information was available, but anyone with information was asked to call Inglewood homicide detectives at (310) 412-5246.
