Traffic Stop Resulted in Arrests of ID Theft Suspects

Police found a slew of tools used in identity theft and stolen mail in the suspect's car.

CULVER CITY -- An early morning traffic stop resulted in the arrests of two suspects for identity theft, the Culver City Police Department announced Thursday.

Officers conducted a traffic stop of a Nissan Maxima in the area of Washington Boulevard and Duquesne Avenue for what they said is a vehicle code violation shortly after midnight Thursday. They then discovered both the driver and passenger were on probation for prior identity theft arrests.

A search of the vehicle turned up a credit card embossing machine, credit card skimmers, several blank and fraudulent credit cards, identification cards, and stolen mail belonging to other people, police said.

Police said the two suspects were working together to steal mail and other personal information to commit fraud.

The pair were arrested in suspicion of identity theft and the items confisticated for evidence, police said.
