9 South Bay Projects Aimed At Reducing Emissions Up For VTA Vote

The proposed $2.7 million would fund improvements to bikeways and traffic signals.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Board of Directors is expected to vote Thursday on $2.7 million in funding for nine infrastructure projects aimed at reducing emissions.

The projects include improvements to bikeways and traffic signals, along with additional funding for VTA’s Rapid 500 and Valley Medical Center Shuttle service.

The town of Los Gatos would build Class II bicycle lanes on Shannon Road, a popular route to schools.

San Jose would see improved signal timing on Coleman Avenue, Cottle Road and Senter Road, upgraded bicycle lanes on San Fernando Street near San Jose State University and for seven additional lanes in the city and bike racks and lockers installed at various locations.

Santa Clara would upgrade a bicycle facility on Mission College Boulevard to a protected bikeway, and Sunnyvale would install a traffic responsive signal system in the area of Moffett Park.
