Coroner IDs Pedestrian Killed In San Jose Hit-And-Run
A pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in South San Jose early Sunday morning has been identified.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash in South San Jose early Sunday morning has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as 29-year-old Nickalas Saunders.
Saunders, who lived in San Jose, had roots in Santa Clara and attended Fremont High School in Sunnyvale from 2001 to 2005, according to his Facebook profile.
Police responding at 12:23 a.m. Sunday found Saunders suffering from serious injuries at Monterey Road and Stauffer Boulevard. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Investigators determined that Saunders had been in the street when a vehicle hit him on southbound Monterey Road.
His death was the city's 10th fatal collision of the year. Nine of those have involved pedestrians, police said.
