CUPERTINO, CA — Tuesday is Election Day, and vote centers are open in Santa Clara County for residents who wish to cast their ballot in-person or have yet to mail their ballot.
There are high stakes in Cupertino as voters will determine who advances to the general election in races for county sheriff and district attorney.
Santa Clara County will have a new sheriff for the first time in over 20 years after Laurie Smith decided not to run for re-election after being mired in scandal. Meanwhile, District Attorney Jeff Rosen is seeking a fourth term as the county's top prosecutor.
