• When Bay Area PG&E substations caught fire, inspectors had already raised red flags (mercurynews.com) — State inspectors recently found multiple safety and maintenance problems at PG&E substations in Cupertino, including non-working cooling fans and battery corrosion, raising concerns after two major Bay Area substation fires caused huge outages. Regulators and watchdogs say chronic underinvestment in maintenance may be putting customers at risk even as rates climb, and Cupertino facilities are explicitly among those flagged for problems.
