Man Who Stabbed SFO Employee At Baggage Claim Sentenced In SMC: Prosecutors
The 52-year-old man was arrested after he ran around the luggage carousel with a knife before stabbing someone, police said.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA β A 52-year-old man has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to assault with a deadly weapon with a prior strike, stemming from a July 2022 incident where he stabbed an employee at San Francisco International Airport, the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office announced Monday.
Samuel Douglas Day, then 48, was reportedly running around the luggage carousels with a knife and stabbed a CLEAR employee in the back without provocation. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The stabbing occurred around 4:55 a.m. on July 18, 2022 at the baggage claim of the international terminal, according to the San Francisco Police Department,which oversees SFO security.

Following the incident, Day was transported to Maguire Correctional Facility in San Mateo County and booked for attempted homicide. The case concluded with his ADW plea and four-year sentence, prosecutors said Monday.
