• Mike Killebrew, Dana Point's retiring city manager, lauded for leadership and community service (ocregister.com) — Dana Point’s longtime city manager Mike Killebrew is retiring Dec. 30 after 18 years with the city, leaving behind major projects like the Lantern District and Doheny Village revitalization. Local leaders credit his hands-on leadership with helping businesses survive tough years, improving roads, and strengthening partnerships with nonprofits, veterans, and public safety. Assistant city manager Kelly Reenders will step into the role Dec. 31.
   

• After nearly 25 years, Gemmell's in Dana Point announces closure (ocregister.com) — A longtime favorite at Dana Point Harbor, Gemmell’s will serve its final meals on New Year’s Eve after nearly 25 years, as the harbor’s $600 million overhaul continues reshaping the waterfront. The French-Continental restaurant’s closure follows other recent harbor mainstay departures, while new hotels and restaurant lineups are still to be announced.
