Police Activity Causes 680 Closure

A driver going northbound on southbound I-680 hit another driver, according to the California Highway Patrol.

DANVILLE, CA — The southbound Diablo Road on-ramp to I-680 in Danville reopened at around 4:50 p.m. after being closed due to police activity, according to the Danville Police Department.

Unconfirmed reports said that a man wanted for shoplifting at the BevMo on Diablo Road struck a police vehicle. A woman was reportedly in custody, and police were searching for her male companion, Deonte Belle, according to News24/680. Danville police put out a call at 4:30 p.m. asking people to be alert for Belle.

Police said at 5:25 p.m. Monday that all suspects were in custody and the roads were open.

The left lanes of I-680 southbound north of El Cerro Boulevard were also closed, according to 511.org. According to the California Highway Patrol log, a vehicle going northbound on the southbound lane hit another car at around 3:30 p.m., causing unknown injuries.
