Barnyard Epicurean? Odd Name, Easy Idea. Rustic Wine Bar With Charcuterie Boards and Charm

DANVILLE, CA — Not sure whether the Barnyard Epicurean is someone on a farm? The person who assists the veterinarian, maybe. Well, not a bad thought, but the answer is much better — a new wine bar in the Danville Livery and Mercantile.

Danville doesn't exactly lack wine and places to drink it, but this bar has a rustic charm that makes it feel warm and friendly.

"The Barnyard Wine Bar is that warm and welcoming third place; not quite home, not work but that place - new but familiar," wrote owner Lisa Dickson in a statement to Patch. "Smells of wood, barrels and corks; sounds of clinking glasses & laughter. Velvet energy, good vibes & light, coupled with delicious wines, cheese, charcuterie, craft beer and happy music.

"The Danville Livery & Mercantile is the perfect venue for us; colorful flowers, lacy trees, shingled roof tops and cozy twinkle lights. We are grateful and excited to engage with the community bringing people together and to enjoy life, wine, food and music."

The menu allows even a wine newbie to be confident but won't leave an expert feeling bored. Vino is served by the glass, bottle or in one of their three "Barnyard Wine Flights." The star of this barnyard is clearly the wine because, to pair with the drinks, the "Barnyard Bites "are kept pretty simple with choices between a charcuterie board or a bigger charcuterie board.

The comfortable atmosphere makes this bar a nice place to drink wine with friends and share an artfully paired snack. Just do not expect a large meal. The Barnyard Epicurean also hosts live music and offers a wine club called The Epic Society for the wine aficionado looking for access to curated wine collections and pairing events.
