Cars Traveling Over 70 MPH On Danville Streets: Police
Danville police issued a number of speeding tickets Friday, and some cars were clocked going extremely fast in pedestrian zones.
DANVILLE, CA — Danville police said they issued a number of speeding tickets Friday night, particularly in areas with high pedestrian traffic.
Police say the most extreme examples included:
- A truck was stopped for going 73 mph in a 45 mph zone on Camino Tassajara near Sycamore Valley Road.
- A car was stopped for going 57 mph in a 30 mph zone on Diablo Road, near downtown.
- Cars were also stopped for going 53 and 63 mph in the same location.
Pedestrians hit by a car going 32 mph have a 25% chance of death, according to a 2011 Tefft study. They have a 90% chance of death if the car is going 60 mph.
