Danville Community Suggestions For Housing Update Reviewed
A total of 281 pins were dropped on 99 separate sites for the Town of Danville to consider.

DANVILLE, CA — Danville has been assigned the task of planning for a minimum of 2,241 new homes in the next eight-year Housing Element cycle (2023-2031). To do so, the Town, along with all other California communities, must identify locations (sites) that could accommodate new housing development.
As part of the latest engagement activity for the Housing Element update, the community was invited to identify and suggest sites in Danville that they believe should be considered for housing development using an interactive Housing Site Suggestion Map.

At the conclusion of this activity in April 2022, a total of 281 ‘pins’ were dropped on 99 separate sites for the Town to consider. All suggested housing sites can be found on the Housing Element Update project page at www.danvilletowntalks.org/housingelement.
A staff analysis is currently underway to evaluate all suggested sites against criteria established by the State Department of Housing and Community Development (State HCD). Sites that meet State HCD criteria will be featured on an online Housing Plan Simulation tool, expected to be released by late June 2022. Using this tool, community members can create their own recommended ‘housing plan’ with a minimum of 2,241 assigned units and densities on various sites townwide. Among other considerations, these housing plan simulations will be used to inform the Planning Commission and Town Council’s decisions on which sites would be most appropriate to accommodate Danville’s housing assignment.
