Danville Donut Shop Named Among Best In Bay Area: Mercury News
See which longtime Danville staple was voted as one of the 17 best places to get donuts in the region.
DANVILLE, CA — Mercury News readers named Christy’s Donuts one of the 17 best bakeries in the Bay Area. The small bakery on Diablo Road is a Danville staple that has been around since 1986, when Ky and Chhary Phuon, then 23 and 19, took a failing donut shop and turned it into a smashing success. Both Ky and Chhary survived the killing fields of Cambodia and barely escaped with their lives, according to a 2017 East Bay Times profile. Today, they are successful business owners who sponsor Little League teams and host Coffee and Cocoa With The Cops events.
“Came here on an early morning during the weekday. The donuts were hot and fresh! Some were still coming out as I was ordering!” one reviewer on Yelp gushed.
“This is a little shop, but it certainly has every kind of yummy donut that you could get. I also had a breakfast sandwich, which was out of this world!! Soooo delicious! I feel like I need to try each and every flavor, just to see which one would be the best...I can tell you, they are all fabulous, at this point!!” raved another on TripAdvisor.
