Danville Election Canceled, All Three Town Council Candidates Appointed

Forgoing the election will save the city $40,300, town officials said.

DANVILLE, CA — The Danville Town Council canceled its November municipal election Tuesday, appointing all three nominated candidates to the three available council seats.

After incumbent councilman Mike Doyle decided not to seek reelection, the filing period for nominations was extended by five days to Aug. 17.

By the end of the filing period, only three candidates had turned in papers - incumbents Newell Arnerich and Renee Morgan, as well as challenger Lisa Blackwell.

The three candidates were appointed to four-year terms. They will be sworn in on Dec. 6. Forgoing the election will save the city $40,300, town officials said.
